ALITA 508B – High-Performance Resin for BMC Molding Processes

Principal Properties & Application:

ALITA 508B resin is an orthophthalic unsaturated polyester resin primarily made from phthalic anhydride. It has medium to high viscosity and high reactivity. ALITA 508B resin is used in Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) process, a compression molding resin technique, to effectively prevent issues like gas porosity. The products made with this high-performance resin have excellent heat resistance, as well as superior mechanical and electrical properties. It is suitable for products with medium to high voltage requirements, such as insulators, electrical switches, electronic devices, and more. This fiber-reinforced polymer ensures high strength and reliability for industrial components.

Note: When testing the cure performance of SPI (Structural Polyurethane Injection) system, the curing agent used is Enox BPO-50F with a dosage of 2%.

Physical properties of the casting (for reference only):

Note:
The casting fabrication method is conducted in accordance with GB/T 8237-2005. The curing system consists of a promoter (0.6% Co Naph) and a curing agent (Butanox M-50: 1.0%).
The post-casting treatment involves subjecting the castings to room temperature for 24 hours, followed by heating at 60°C for 3 hours, and finally at 120°C for 1 hour.

1. 1. In order to ensure the storage stability of SMC/BMC materials, it is recommended to add stabilizers during production.

Handling and Storage:

This resin contains ingredients which could be harmful if mishandled. Contact with skin and eyes should be avoided and necessary protective equipment and clothing should be worn.
Drums – It is highly recommended that all material is stored at stable temperatures below 25°C (77°F). Avoid exposure to heat sources such as direct sunlight or steam pipes. To avoid contamination of product with water, do not store outdoors. Keep sealed to prevent moisture pick-up and monomer loss. Rotate stock.
