What Are the Factors Affecting the Gel Time of Resin?
In simple terms, when it comes to a specific pre-accelerated unsaturated resin, the factors that influence gel time are temperature and the amount of hardener used. Generally, the higher the ambient temperature (including the temperature of the resin itself) and the greater the amount of hardener, the faster the curing speed.
If you add inert fillers, such as talc powder, it’s necessary to also include a promoter and increase the amount of hardener. Insufficient amounts may lead to incomplete curing or under-curing. The specific amounts should be determined through practical testing and comparison.
