What Is the Difference Between Vinyl Resin for Corrosion Protection and for Molds?

Although both types of vinyl resin belong to the same family, their product performances are notably different.

In simple terms, vinyl resin used for molds can be considered a low-shrinkage version designed for corrosion resistance. Typically, corrosion-resistant vinyl resins exhibit volume shrinkage rates of around 6% or more, while vinyl mold resins maintain a much lower shrinkage rate of approximately 1%. This distinction becomes significant, especially for larger fiberglass molds.

Even if you employ methods such as increasing fillers to further reduce shrinkage, issues related to impregnation and resin performance may arise as a result.
